H.O.P.E. for Parents

Parents, ever since the shelter-in-place rule was enforced, you've been stuck inside with your kids. Times like these can be challenging in terms of managing the stress of work and taking care of your little ones. Do these scenarios seem familiar to you?

1. Mom/Dad, can I have 10 extra minutes of iPad time today?

2. Mom/Dad, what's for snack?

3. Mom/Dad, she/he started it!

If you have been struggling through these situations or ones similar to them, don't worry! We are here to provide H.O.P.E. for your family and H.O.P.E-fully make your home life a little more peaceful!

Predator's Love

We recommend that the following 3 things be added to your daily routine:

1. Structure and Reward

Use a structure and reward system in order to bring discipline into your family's life. For example, every morning you can start the system by taking all privileges away such as screen time or free play time. Once your kids follow the structure or schedule you have set up for them, they can earn back their rewards one by one.

Ex. 1 hour of studying = 10 Minutes of time on the iPad

**The more your kids follow the structure you set up for them, the greater the reward you give them! This will also teach your children the benefits behind working hard and following an organized schedule.

Schedule

2. Goofy Time!

This is VERY important to have during these stressful times. Schedule a "goofy time" everyday where the kids can do whatever makes them laugh. If they want to dress up funny, draw on the face of someone while they're sleeping, or do funny impressions of Mom and Dad, this is their time to do it! H.O.P.E will be hosting weekly competitions where YOU can send in pictures of your family's "goofy time" to our Instagram, Facebook, or eMail where we will post them and pick a weekly winner who will be featured on our Instagram page! Let's loosen up during these scary times and have some fun!

3. Family Time

Family time doesn't necessarily mean only having dinner together. Family time needs to be incorporated throughout the day. Start off every morning with 10-15 minutes of family time where everyone can just cuddle in bed or cook breakfast together. In the middle of the day, during lunch or snack time, bring everyone together and have a chat, resolve conflicts, or do a small project together. Family walks in the evening that give a chance for everyone to get some fresh air also provide a wonderful bonding experience. At the end of the day be sure to check in with your family and make sure everyone is both physically healthy and mentally happy.
